On the occasion
of Aati Amavasya (Karkataka Amavasya/Bheemana Amavasya) on 20/07/2020,
Dravyaguna in association with Rasa Shastra & Bhaishya Kalpana Department
of Yenepoya Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mangalore arranged
distribution of Hale Kashaya (Decoction prepared from the fresh bark of
Alstonia Scholaris) to the patients and
Staff. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. C V Raghuveer, Pro. Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be
University. Dr. Gururaja H, Principal, Dr. K Lakshmeesha Upadhya, Medical
Superintendent and faculty members were present.
The
consumption of bitter juice of bark of
Hale Mara (Sapthaparna) adding spicy ingredients in empty stomach on new
moon day of Juy/August is said to have the power to ward of all the health
problems for a year till next Aati Amavasya. Nutritious receipt of fenugreek
(Menthe Ganji) is advised after consumption of the decoction. This traditional
ritual is believed to be having the action of securing the individual from
unwanted stomach ailments there by boosting the body immunity.
